I remember the first time I saw DCFC. 'Twas late October 2003, Transatlanticism had just been released. Jerry, Libby, Travis and I skipped classes to travel to Columbus and met up with Dan's ex Meredith and her friend Allie Klein. The show was at a smaller club called Little Brothers, and Mates of State were the openers. I could not have asked for a better experience seeing that band. They played all but one of the songs I desperately wanted to hear that evening including my all time fav of theirs, "Blacking Out the Friction." They even covered The Cure (which has a whole other long story attached to it), Bjork, and Elliott Smith (it was literally days after Smith had supposedly killed himself). I was so obnoxious the whole night, screaming out songs that I wanted to hear during both bands' sets (egged on by Travis), a few of them were actually played. We met Ben Gibbard and he was really nice. I came home from that show feeling so encouraged musically and even personally it was great

Hahaha! Well, before Harmer showed up with his new cut and beard, he pretty much had the claw of a crab for bangs. It was hideous. He is one phenominal bass player though, and based off interviews I've read, my type of geek.
As for your reception, we most definitely got the invite, I think either yesterday or the day before. It seems like everyone has seen it, I will check in and see who's all planning to make it. It would be really fun if we all were there. So, yeah, hopefully see you then!
i thought of you when i bought it. i see them all over the place. i need to get one for you, theyre so cheap and so beautiful. perfect for teaching in africa.
i think you answered your own question about what you should write a novel about... just do a memoirs type thing...and give it a catchy title. i'd buy it! :)
