I was sympathetic to the petition until I saw moveon's 2d email, thanking me and saying my name had been added to the petition. i never contacted them in any way, so if they added my name to the petition they are committing fraud and misusing my name, and that pisses me off. so i suggest you all not sign to make up for my fraudulently added name. although you never know, they might already have added your name anyways.

I couldn't find any general email to complain to MoveOn, so I used their web-page based contact template for reporting problems with their website ( ... )

I hope gas prices go ever higher, sledge May 23 2007, 17:50:22 UTC
I honestly hope that the prices continue to climb. It is obvious that the average American consumer cares less about finding other power sources, or the environment, than they do about their finances. The more expensive gas gets, the more the demand will be for alternate fuels, public transportation, etc.

Gas prices going lower just encourages people to continue to pretend that the resource is infinite, that the environment is inconsequential and that everything is "ok".

The price is dictated by the market, when people stop buying, the prices will go down. Until then, the oil companies will continue to make money hand over fist. Its called capitalism.

I had the same problem grumph reports, though I admit I clicked the link, initially thinking it was for MORE INFORMATION - not that I would be able to sign the petition without actually reading some stuff first.

After writing them and receiving NO response, I wrote my own email to Zoe Lofgren (D, CA-16), in which I expressed my interest in higher federal gas taxes to fund mass transit but my stark opposition to HR 1252. Big oil companies are making 10% profits right now. That's hardly a windfall. Will we be assigning special taxes to Google next?

Maybe it's time to move on from moveon.
