My boss doesn't think she can accomodate my school schedule. Which is stupid, but I can't make her. If she wants to lose me as an employee, oh well

Have you talked to human resources? I might, if I were you, just see if you could schedule an informal meeting with Joan or Sue. There's no way they wouldn't want to work with you. Maria might be pissed, but she's kind of a weirdo control freak about the small stuff. But if you approach informally, you can feel it out with HR before you make any formal moves. I would talk to Sue (I think that's her name) first. She can check over the policies and possibly run it by Joan confidentially.
It would be so dumb of them to not accomodate you, especially considering the massive amounts of training a person would need to take your place.
I'm going to see what Maria says in the am, then talk with either Joan or Sue. (How trustworthy is Sue? I don't know her very well...)
There's part time openings in child care, the kitchen, and in radiology, so maybe I can figure something out.
They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they let me go. (Not to sound snotty, but still!) Ellen's leaving, Evelyn's leaving, and Irene's stepping down as the lead. So if they lose me as well, that's their problem. I just need to make approx $400 a month to live with my loans and be at the same "income" as I am now. Which means I could make even less and just tighten up in places.
So, how did the meeting go? Wouldn't you need to work nights? so you can do your schooling thing during the day? Or would you just work part time over the weekends. I bet Anna in the kitchen would hire you, no problem. (even if there aren't any openings) she's cool like that. do you have your CNA yet? 'cause then you could work part time and get "experience" on the floor. - Carena
She didn't show. Wanted me to call her back, but if I didn't, she "says" she'll call tonight.
If I want full time, I need nights. But I can just do part time and with my loans be okay.
I'll update tonight if I get a phone call from her...and if I get a response from Anna or Scott.
No CNA yet. But working on the app.
I've still got about one month of PTO saved up and school doesn't start until very end of August, so I've got a little bit of time. Just not as much as I'd like.
This just sucks. There are options, but they involve some compromise from her. And I really don't think it's much to ask after 5.5 years! And all the OT I've put in! Grr....
