Wish That I Could Write

Do you have ANY idea how frustrating it is to have REALLY good ideas for fanfics but lack the ability to write it?  I mean, I can write outlines and plot summaries until I'm blue in the face, but to actually transform that into story form for me is like finding a needle in a haystack.  Could someone PLEASE share the secret ( Read more... )

wish I could help you there. My real life and lack of inspiration kept me away for a year.. but now I have ideas for the 2 stories I stopped writing, a whole new story concept, and a sequel for my original story and I can't make headway in any of them. I get too distracted and still have too much going on (even over a school break). Plus lack of feedback and occasional love makes me wonder if any ideas are worth sharing. One tip: Keep the TV off. This is something I NEVER do and I'm finding it's my downfall.. when I was writing more, certain song lyrics and playlists help to set the mood for the tones I was trying to portray in my work. Hope some of those work, but as another frustrated writer, I'm sorry I don't have more options for ya. Good luck!!!

Honestly the secret for me is just to fucking do it. Not to sound rude, but you have to be hard on yourself sometimes. Just sit down and start writing. It's almost like putting a puzzle together or solve an equation. You just figure out where to start (which can be the hardest part, I know) and then see where that takes you. It's honestly that simple, and that hard.

I realize this probably wasn't helpful at all, but for me, it's just to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Or one word after the other, as it were.

I didn't know that I could write until I tried it. Prior to the Prologue of The Innocents I had never written any fiction, ever (not even in my first language). I think the old cliche is true: just do it.

Actually, I did read a few guides on how to structure a plot, etc.. a few weeks before and then during writing (and I am still reading a lot of 'how to write' books) but you can read forever, you have to get down and write. And if it sucks, well it might not suck forever, the more you do it the better it (should) get.
