amusement in Rachael-land: Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, in a Sleater-Kinney t-shirt saying "Green Day is not punk," on VH1.

How much did this totally just make my day?

I believe they are pop, like the Backdoor Boys. *waits patiently for Green Day fans to beat up*

Three Cheers for Lee! stitchdoll November 23 2002, 11:30:59 UTC
the fact that Thurston Moore was patiently sitting next to him made it all the better. of course the band in question had to be mentioned in VH1's "25 Years of Punk," gotta slip something familiar to the viewing audience after all the footage of Black Flag and Jayne County....

...but it almost made me think back to MTV in like 1994 when they actually played Sonic Youth videos, had P.J. Harvey on for soundclips and had a special dedicated to celebrating the diversity of freaks, nerds, and others of the dork-kingdom. i forget the name except that it had something about "freaks" and "nerds" in the title.

back to the special though, which as actually fairly decent, although not complete in any sense of the word. but props to VH1 for putting on Legs McNeil.
