Ice & Snow Pictures

I was wa-a-a-ay too busy before the holidays to do this, but I've been wanting to create a Picasa photo album for ages to more easily share pics with both my LJ and non-LJ family and friends. I finally took several hours last night to do that, and my first album is up--ice and snow storm pictures from several of our recent storms, including the big ( Read more... )

Oh, wow. These are amazing! I love the ones with bright dashes of color in them - but they're all so incredibly pretty! All the details of the world cased in ice are almost supernaturally beautiful - like something out of a fairy tale, or maybe a Final Fantasy game. Something gorgeous and deadly. I love the shots of the iced trees against the blue sky - the sunlight that makes everything glow. And, of course, it's always fun to see the farm again.

Thanks for taking the time to share these! ♥

Most of these were taken before the storm cleared enough for it to be sunny... but the glitter when the sun hits the ice is truly beautiful... but deadlier than ever. The ice was so thick in the Dec. 12 storm that when it started melting--rather quickly as the temperature climbed fast--it fell from the trees in large shattering crashes, sometimes with branches coming down with the ice. We couldn't be outside safely if we weren't in the open. My neighbor bought a hard hat so he could work in his yard clearing fallen debris.

And Ron and I both got a charge out of you referring to our place as "the farm." Not anywhere NEAR a farm compared to your parents' place! But we love it!

Wow, you live in a beautiful area. Pefect for showing off the harsh beauty of winter. I love the shots of your backyard and of the lake. Thanks for sharing the link to your album!

This is a pretty area. One of the things I love about New England is that there is a tremendous variety of scenery in a pretty small geographic area--and we're right smack in the middle of it. Only a couple hours to the mountains; an hour to Boston and/or the coast; a couple hours to the rocky Maine coast; barely an hour and a half to the lakes country of New Hampshire. And all around us there are rolling hills, ponds and lakes, and a lot of woodlands and conservation land. And we have a lovely two-and-a-half acre lot with this house, with fields, the pond, and woodlands just beyond us. Very happy-making. Thanks for commenting on the pics!
