My favorite shows this season have been Dexter (don't scroll down too far; you'll be spoiled) and Chuck. I don't know if you've seen/heard of them, but the former is a cable TV drama with many darkly humorous moments; the latter is a network TV action comedy. Both are really well-written and enjoyable. Dexter has three complete seasons so far (short ones, since it's a Showtime show) and Chuck is currently in its second season and on a break for the holidays.
Privileged is also good; it's a new dramedy on The CW that's really cute without being sappy. And Gossip Girl has been really fun this year! It all depends on what you're in the mood for, I guess.
i looooooove gossip girl, and i keep seeing ads for privileged when i watch it, so i'll get that. i've heard lots about dexter and i actually have the first season already but have never got around to watching it. i've never heard of chuck though, so i'll look into that. thank you!
Chuck is a Josh Schwartz show -- he actually had it and Gossip Girl premiere in the same year. It's closer in tone to The OC than to Gossip Girl, though. Chuck actually reminds me of Seth Cohen at times with the snarky geekiness. But unlike The OC, Chuck's quality didn't decline after season one. ;) In fact, I think I'm liking s2 even more. Jordana Brewster in a recent three-episode arc didn't hurt!
ah, seth... i swoon. i have the oc on dvd but i've never been remotely motivated to watch it.
and btw, i just bought all of dawson's creek on dvd (they were ridiculously cheap). i want to watch the last two seasons again cause i only saw them very briefly after i'd lost interest in the show, but i don't want to watch them without having re-watched it from the start... but i just don't know if i can stand that many hours of dawson. ah, such a dilemma.
I'm a big fan of Californication. David Duchovny can do no wrong on that show. That and Dexter are really the only shows that I watch on a regular basis these days.
i watched the first 6 or so eps of californication. loved the first 2, was bored senseless by the rest - so i don't think i'll give it another shot. i also hate david duchovny, so that probably doesn't help.

I don't have a TV, so my viewing habits are a little low these days. I loooove Gossip Girl too, so addictive.
