I've been thinking about going to church. There's a Unitarian Universalist congregation in CR. Religion is supposed to be good for getting people through stuff like this. And it'll get me out of the house, and maybe meet people, and with UU, there's not the whole issue about being judged for your sins (which I've thought about going to the Kingdom ( Read more... )

When you say "help get through stuff like this", do you mean your divorce and the situation with your kids, or did something else happen?

I was just wondering if I'm missing something?

I lost my kids. If the adoptive parents don't allow contact, that means I won't even get to know how they're doing until they're all grown up- and then only if they chose to find me, which they might not if they've been brainwashed to think I'm a vile whore who didn't want them.

The only thing more painful would be if they had died.

I have no right to find anything out, I have no input on who adopts them because I fought to keep them. I hate everyone who has anything to do with DHS, I hope that their children are kidnapped, I hope their whole families doie horribly and that they're notified of the tragedy via twitter, and when someone goes postal and guns down a whole bunch of social workers, I am going to laugh my ass off (and no, that won't be me, Nate knows better than to teach me how to use a gun.)

So, yeah, I think I need some help getting through this, otherwise I'm going to need a red lightsaber.

My family are members of a local UU congregation and find it to be a great community of people--it's certainly worth checking out.

I went to confession a few weeks ago, and am attending church now. I went to hear Immaculée Ilibagiza (the author of Left to Tell) through a church thing, and it's been a pretty amazing thing overall. I think prayer is A Good Thing (tm).
