I'm not going to go into depth into chapter cause.. to be honest it didn't interest me all that much XD
So yeah.. last chapter was the big cliffhanger where we were supposed to be worried that Tamaki would actually say yes to Megumi's feelings
NOT
yeah, I don't' think many people were surprised with his answer either
Not that i'm disappointed, cause I didn't want Megumi to be strung along anyways.. better for her to learn the truth now.
But yeah.. pretty much the chapter seems (from what I've heard) focuses on Tamaki's past (again) and Haruhi thinking about her feelings (or something similar).. cue fluff scene with the ootoro ring *shrugs*
The only remotely interesting thing was that Haruhi has a 'plan' concerning Megumi and Tamaki
And now for the quotes
These are just quotes from other people..
Ouran is a rare example of a series where the anime is actually better than the manga. Not that the manga wasn't excellent (it is where the anime got the majority of its source material) but what started as a shoujo parody that had a surprising appeal to both genders is now ironically, the very subject of its parody.
Granted Ouran still has its funny bits but IMO, everything went downhill when the characters started realizing their feelings for each other. Not that I don't like romance (because I really do!) but the way in which Hatori decided to weave this love story has been done before.
Tamaki and Haruhi are supposed to be intelligent and emotionally perceptive. Their clueless behavior in regards to feelings and the subsequent use of weepy back stories to justify these feelings is hard to believe and absurd even. I know Tamaki and Haruhi are new at romantic love but they're also supposed to be smart and the fact that they're drawing out their inevitable union and turning it into a Korean drama is infuriating at worse, disappointing at best.
The one thing that kept the Ouran anime above and beyond all their cohorts was its sardonic humor, take that humor away and add drama...you have your in your hands Fushigi Yuugi...Okay that was a MASSIVE, freaking stretch and rather insulting to Ouran but you know what I mean...
Ms. Hatori, I love this series but I hate the recent developments. I know it's hard to produce fresh material in the shoujo world but please stop the drama and turn this series back into the romantic comedy it was intended to be.
The following are replies to each other.. I'm sure you can guess.. The comments were from a discussion concerning anime and feminism
Another recommendation: Ouran High School Host Club. This anime is known as a shojo that satirizes common themes in shojo anime. The main character (a female whose name I can't recall right now) stated many times she doesn't care about male-female differences. She is mistaken for a boy at the beginning and we don't learn that she's female until the end of the first episode. Her father doesn't play a big role in the series but it was shown that he doesn't care about gender roles either and dresses feminine.
.............
Actually, I have a problem with Ouran. Even though the female character, Haruhi, often states people should just be who they are despite sex or gender, the male lead is VERY set in gender roles. He even actively gets upset over the pseudo-lesbian relationship between the Zuka Club members and continually tries to change Haruhi to be more feminine.
It also plays on what "girls want." I was especially insulted by the chapter where the club hosted women over high school age and changed their tactics to appeal to the "motherly" instinct in their clients.
Jah, I like Ouran for its humor, but not its gender politics.

Hmm, I understand what you're saying, but I think the lead male is an object of satire and ridicule. His character is so over-the-top that it seems satirical. He's not meant to be someone you aspire to be-- he's an incredibly flawed person, whereas Haruhi actually could be considered a role model.
*SIGH* IF ONLY THAT WERE ACTUALLY THE CASE >.>
