Sounds like you had a very interesting drive back! Yeah, Nevada is weird about construction like that. It's like they can't make up their minds or something. I know what you mean about Wyoming being pretty but boring. I don't think I ever stopped at the salt flats, though. They sound cool. And I like your description of Nebraska. I think I feel the same way about small towns. They're more likely to notice someone different. In big cities, everyone just does their own thing. That's funny they all stared at you at the restaurant. Oh and I like the drive to DC too, or pretty much anywhere else on the east side. Glad it all worked out ok!

huh, if you stayed at the Iowa/Illinois border you were right by my mom's hometown! (she's about 20 miles north of Davenport)....you could have stayed there in another tiny sketchy hotel (where my parents had their wedding night........)
