We're pleased to announce the successful start of the season on September 10 with a crowd of nearly 700 fans, volunteers and future rollergirls. This bout promises to be even more exciting as we continue to add more thrills and spills, while Team Black looks to get even.
BOUT RECAP:
Las Calaveras & M-80's (PINK) vs. June Cleavers & Smashinistas (BLACK) Sunday, September 10
Period 1: One of the best Jammers in the league, Jenny Bonebreak, set the pace early for Team Pink by lapping the opposing team's jammer and pulling off the first Grand Slam of the day. Mayor Francis Slayer, who usually runs a pretty clean campaign, accumulated the most penalties for Team Black in the first period.
Period 2: After squeezing by Grave Danger on the inside, Jenny Bonebreak was driven out of bounds by Overland Offender. A determined Danger re-engaged Bonebreak, blocking her to the ground as Bonebreak was coming back onto the track, taking Bonebreak completely out of the game.
Period 3: Despite a rally near the end of the 3rd period led by 2 amazing jams by Josie Stalin, Team Black was unable to catch up to Team Pink. With just over 3 minutes left, Pink used its speed to pull off a breakaway, immediately sending its blockers speeding off beyond Black's reach upon the blow of the whistle. This left Team Black unable to block Pink's Jammer, Kix, and burned 2 minutes of the remaining minutes off the clock.
Final Score:
Pink 68
Black 56
