A lot of athiests I know seem like they feel kind of cheated by the world. As in, they tried to be moral and kind, but then a close relative died horribly and they got mad at god, so "decided" not to believe in him/her/it. They seem to be pretty misguided. I bet most of them are agnostic, but they don't know it. ;)

I admire your worldview, though; it takes a lot of emotional clout to accept human impermanence.
