NSC/WPC

Registration for the NSC and WPC are now open.  So... which are you planning to attend?  I doubt I can do both, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to play the WPC.  It's not really a Collins vs TWL issue for me; the WPC comes closer to my ideal of a Scrabble championship, with everyone in the room working toward a common goal and most (if not all?) of

You're not an elitist pig... you're choosing the tournament that you like better. Nothing wrong with that.

Not your fault at all, but yeah, it really sucks that these two tournaments were scheduled this way. Whatever happened to that "two weeks, 200 miles" rule?

I can understand the frustration with two major events in such proximity of time and place. As to the sanctioning, from the NASPA website: "Exception: if the organizers of the conflicting tournaments are agreeable, NASPA can sanction both."

It would seem to me that the players would have just as much of an issue with the tournament conflict as the directors would. As a director, I wouldn't mind a smaller turnout, but the players may be disappointed to find out that the prize money will have to be subdued because of a much lower than anticipated attendance. I have no idea how this could be enforced, though.

WPC only. Would go to Nationals if there was more time b/n them, but I can't stand that much time in Dallas or that many days of Scrabble.
