we have chester back at home! yay! he's currently attempting to compose himself (read: how many cat baths will it take to get rid of the stench of vet office?), but he's already eaten a bit and seems relieved to be back. dot is appalled. hopefully tonight and tomorrow (and then on out) are uneventful!

nuts. they removed the catheter, but chester's still blocked. they're going to have to recatheterize him, take xrays to see if there are stones or possibly growth of some sort (latter is unlikely) causing his issues, and keep him for at least two more days. if he has stones they will have to operate to remove them. they're still force-feeding him ( Read more... )

chester's still at the vet; they didn't want to pull the catheter today as tests showed he might just redevelop the same condition right away, so he's at the vet until tomorrow (when they're closed). he's not eating, presumably because zac's not there to do the magic food dance, and the vet is eager to get him home so he will eat, therefore, we ( Read more... )

the vet called back. yay for nice vets! chester is still wearing his goofy collar, is still catheterized, and is doing well. the vet assured me that he is getting plenty of attention due to him being, well, awesome. despite the fact that he is trapped in a metal box in a smelly foreign place with a catheter to his bladder basically sewn in place ( ( Read more... )

the people at san francisco veterinary specialists are extra nice, and happily let us come into the boarding/treatment area last night to visit chester while we talked to the emergency vet. he was definitely blocked, but since we got him in so quickly, he was easily unblocked and his bloodwork was normal. for a cat that chews cables/cords, it must ( Read more... )
