Katie's birthday party had given Ron a taste of how much fun a crowded pub could be. It was like a Gryffindor Quidditch party, but the alcohol was completely legal instead of being sneaked in through the statue of the one-eyed witch.
One of the best things about the party, to Ron, was seeing his old friend and dorm mate, Seamus Finnigan, for the first time in more than seven years. Seamus had changed a bit over the years. He was a bit taller than Ron remembered, and he'd filled out somewhat, which didn't surprise Ron at all; that was fairly normal for blokes their age. What Ron did notice, though, was Seamus' hands; he had very nice, strong hands, Ron thought. Those hands, as Ron remembered them from Hogwarts, had been in his thoughts a few nights earlier; he was pleasantly surprised that those hands were as nice as he'd remembered. He wasn't entirely sure why he was so interested in Seamus' hands. Well, he was, but he wouldn't admit it to anyone, especially not Seamus...unless he liked the idea.
Seamus had invited Ron to visit him at the Five Alarm any time he wanted to catch up. Ron decided this was as good a night as any. Harry, as usual, was holed up in his room; Ron cracked open his door and called in a brief "See you later, mate." Hermione was in her room, surrounded by books and parchments, working on plans for the book shop. After giving her a quick hug and promising to be careful, he left the house; once beyond the wards he Apparated directly to the front door of the Five Alarm. He brushed his hair back with his hand, smoothed his clothes a bit and entered.
