Viktor returned from a morning Apparating to Ireland hungry, tired, and concerned. He wasn't pleased to take Maire back at all, but as best he could tell from what reading he'd had time to slog through, behaving decently regarding reasonable visitation was a good idea until he could get a real agreement formalized, since he had no actual evidence of any sort of abuse, physical or otherwise.
Still, he had spent some time making the elastic band in her hair into a locating device, just in case, and if there ws trouble getting her back, he'd know what to expect the next time. He thought he could certainly get in and retrieve her once even if Brenna didn't want him to, and he'd told her he would be back for her in the evening.
He had lunch scheduled with Hermione today, after they'd run into each other in town several times--chance meetings at the market weren't terribly good for talking, and she'd been so jumpy the last time they'd had lunch, but she seemed happier recently, so that was good.
He'd finally worked out what the slow-cooking device he'd found in his kitchen did (oddly enough, it cooked slowly), and after a couple of trial runs, letting it cook while he and Maire did other things, he'd declared it useful, especially for simple, hearty foods.
He'd said he'd bring lunch, so he'd browned chicken this morning and left that with lemon juice, water, sugar, and spices, in the pot this morning before he'd gone. It only took twenty minutes to make some rice to go with it, which was long enough to shower and stand in Maire's door being aware of her absence for a bit, and then he packed up lunch and plates for a picnic of sorts, and headed out on his bicycle, wondering whether his tiredness were more to do with the long Apparition or the fairly lousy sleep the night before.
Well, seeing Hermione would be good, anyway.
He pedaled past her house to the next building south, as she'd said she'd be at the building she planned to make a bookstore. It only took a moment to find a place to leave the bike, and then he knocked at the door, then opened it a bit. "Hermione?" he called out. "It is Viktor. I am bring lunch, but I am maybe a few minutes early. I am hope, this is not problem."
