After taking a shower, Ron hurried back to his room to get dressed for the day. He rummaged through his clothes cupboard to find a button-up shirt to wear but couldn't find a single one. Where the bloody hell had they all gone? Maybe they were all in the laundry room, waiting to be washed, though he didn't remember putting them there. Or maybe...
He wandered down the hall to Hermione's room. He'd not really seen her around the house or the business in several days. Either she was incredibly busy or she wasn't feeling well. In either case, he wanted to find out what was going on, especially since he suspected that she had his shirts. She'd developed a habit, over the years, of wearing them as jackets.
He knocked on the door. "Hermione? It's Ron."
There was no answer.
He poked his head in and discovered she wasn't there. Her bed was perfectly made, which wasn't the least bit unusual, as she was compulsively neat and, as far as he knew, was still sharing Harry's bed with him. Somehow, though, the room looked liked she'd barely been in it recently. She was probably at the book shop, he reasoned, but in case she wasn't, he decided to leave her a note, asking politely for her to return any shirts she might have borrowed. Then he walked to the shop, which took only a couple of minutes, and began looking around for her.
"Hermione, it's Ron," he called out. "Where are you?"
