It was a surprisingly nice experience to have someone to drop in on.

Blaise smiled as Hermione’s book store came into view up ahead. He’d taken a detour from the path he usually followed for his morning jog with the intention of dropping in on the witch. He wasn’t sure if she would be around, but he’d decided it was worth the risk and it wasn’t too out of his way to be an inconvenience. He could always owl her later if the visit proved fruitless. She’d mentioned a few times in their conversations that she was an early riser. He just hoped she was keeping the habit today.

After his evening out with her at the museum the week before, Blaise had been considering places to take her for his turn on planning a surprise. Taking her to Tracey’s uncle’s library in Nice wasn’t really the surprise that Hermione had indulged it, but he thought it would be nice for her to get out of the country for a bit, even if it was just a day, and even if it was partly work related.

Blaise jogged along the side of the road and considered his plans for the weekend. He really hoped Hermione would be available because he was looking foreword to discovering the library with her. She was the only person he’d met that looked at books in a similar way to him, and he knew she would appreciate the library and find it just as exciting as he was sure to.

If she could come, Blaise contemplated what they might do. Perhaps they could spend the day in the library and then late afternoon they could take a trip to one of the beaches around the Nice to watch the sun set. Hermione had said she liked sitting by the river, so perhaps she would appreciate dinner by the ocean too.

There was something that Blaise had always found particularly calming about looking out across seemingly endless blue waters. It reminded him of visiting his grandparent’s house as well as his actual place in the world.

Maybe he could pick up some sort of game for the evening; that Muggle word game in the book store in Exeter. That had looked intriguing. It would be something quiet and relaxing that would give them the opportunity to talk. As much as his behaviour around Hermione puzzled him, he had found that he enjoyed talking with her on a number of subjects. And she quoted the dictionary at him enough to make him anticipate her enjoyment of such a game.

He wanted to give it a bit more thought though first before he made any concrete decisions. There was plenty that they could do in the area and Blaise had no wish to be hasty.

Blaise turned off the road, slowing to a walk as he stepped onto the path leading up to the store. He felt the wards trigger as they had upon his last visit, but they felt stronger and he frowned momentarily. Perhaps she had decided that there was too much of value on site now and had strengthened them.

Shrugging off the moment of hesitation, Blaise continued up the path and knocked on the door.
