The more I thought about a small, quiet dinner party, the better an idea it seemed. I realize this is short notice, but would be delighted if you'd join me on Saturday at seven for dinner. Semi-formal dress would be welcome, as it would make me look like less of a prat, but please don't make that a reason not to come--I should be happy to have you if you showed up swathed in sacking.

Also, I have attached the shirts I promised you. I do hope they fit.
