Summary: Cedric has news for Susan
Completion: complete

Cedric was in Stoat's, having just been to the post with a letter for his parents, when he was flagged down on his bike by André Billows,* who clutched his shoulder excitedly and said, "Have you heard?"

"Heard what?" Cedric replied, unhooking himself as politely as possible. André was sometimes a bit excitable.

"The war is over. You-Know-Who is dead!"

Cedric just blinked, completely at a loss as to what to say. Finally, he managed, "How do you know?"

"It's all over the town! Harry Potter did it again! He and his friends sent an owl to Minerva McGonagall with the news."

"And you're quite positive? This isn't -- "

"It's absolutely true!"

Even as André said that, a pair of witches dressed in full robes practically exploded from the door of Socks, Dobby's pub, shouting in glee and waving hats.

Cedric felt a grin start to spread over his face. Could it really be true? "Thanks, André. There's somebody who needs to hear this." Getting back on his bicycle, he headed off through the town, deftly avoiding excited witches and wizards who were coming out into the street to see if their neighbors had heard. He road over the river bridge, down Alpha street south to Lovegood Lane, then only South Street, then Gold, then the gravel of I Road.

Peddling past his own property, he skidded onto the gravel path leading onto Susan's farm and then up to the barn. As usual, the double doors were open on the main aisle. Susan was probably in the loft where she slept -- where she lived, actually. "Susan!" he bellowed. "The war's over! It's VB Day!" Not that she'd get the joke. He'd given up on his Wizard-born friends understanding his occasional Muggle references.
