So. Here it was, finally. The grand opening of Bookworm was less than 18 hours away. Ron was glad it was finally going to happen. As the big day approached, Hermione had gone into the hyper-organised, hyperactive mode she used to reserve for studying for exams or trying to keep Harry safe. Her usual half-dozen lists of things to do had suddenly multiplied to about 20, she was barely remembering to eat, and every time Ron saw her at the shop, she was either carrying or levitating a huge stack of books that needed to be shelved. Today Hermione called Ron up from the cellar several times to help with some set-ups that really needed an extra set of hands. For once he didn't mind being pulled away from his printing. He knew how important the bookshop was to her, and he really was trying to be more helpful as part of his effort to be a better friend to her.

Now it was a bit past 7 o'clock and instead of being home having dinner, Ron was still at the bookshop, helping Hermione with last-minute details, mostly making sure the shop was clean enough for her high standards. He'd wanted to use a few charms from the book Lavender had sent but decided against it; if he messed up a charm and ruined anything, Hermione would hex his bollocks off. He'd worked too hard lately to win back her trust; he would just have to practice those charms at home.

When Hermione finally decided that everything was in order and ready for the opening, it was past 8 o'clock.

"Bloody hell, I'm tired," he whinged, wiping his brow with his hand as he plopped onto a stool in the kitchen. Hermione, for her part, looked exhausted. "Sit down, you. It's no good having the shop ready if you're about to fall apart." He didn't want to say I told you so, as that might set her off and he was too happy to be her friend again to chance that.
