Date: 12 Feb. 2005 (very early morning)
Characters: Cedric Diggory, Hermione Granger
Location: her bookshop
Status: Private
Summary: Invitations and puzzles.
Completion: Complete

He'd meant to ask her out again last night when they'd met Blaise for their celebratory dinner, but there had been no chance to get her alone -- or none that wasn't blazingly obvious. And he certainly had no intention of asking her in front of Blaise and making them all uncomfortable.

Yet if he were to get this all in order, he'd better get a move on.

Thus, Cedric was up bright and early Monday morning in order to pen her a note that he planned to drop by the bookshop before Disapparating in to work. He'd thought about owling her, but that seemed a bit silly when he could just walk across the lawn and leave it for her on the register.

My dear Ms Granger,

The pleasure of your company is requested on the evening of Wednesday, February 14th, at 7pm. I shall call at your home to pick you up. Dress is nice, but by no means formal.

Sincerely,
Cedric Diggory

All right, so it was a bit silly, but perhaps it would make her smile. Then he Sealed it shut, wrote her name on the outside, and charmed it to open only for her. It would shade from parchment white to a pale blue with edges that glowed softly when she unfolded it.

He walked it up to the shop as the sun was rising. Having decided to go the written route, he wanted the note to be found -- not run into her in the flesh -- so he snuck in. He knew he'd triggered the wards but hoped she'd conclude it was someone familiar and not come to investigate. Slinking through to the main room, he left his note sitting on the register along with a small nosegay of purple lilac, honeysuckle, and alyssum. Hermione was clever and liked puzzles. He'd let her puzzle that out.
