Cedric made himself start getting ready early, so he wouldn't be late to pick up Hermione. He was also plain excited. The day at work had, for a change, not been too bad. His boss was busy interviewing possible replacements, and he'd spent his getting notes in order for whoever would take over from him -- and checking up on his plans for tonight.
He'd dressed in a pair of nice slacks and jacket, but not -- at least initially -- a tie. He had one shoved in his pocket, and would decide whether or not to put it on, based on what Hermione wore. The idea tonight was to make her feel special -- not embarrass her if she showed up less dressy than he, or more dressy. The nice thing about male attire (well, according to Gwen anyway) was that it was relatively easy to dress it up or down: tie on/tie off made a big difference.
It was raining lightly, so he cast a Shielding spell and hurried across the lawn to the trio's house. He also had an umbrella. They could only Shield against the weather in Stoatshead, not where they were going. Circling the house, he came up the front path. It was probably a bit silly to go to the front door, but it was all part of the mood. Proper gentlemen didn't bang on a lady's back door.
