Caradoc had considered taking out his broom, but thought that a jog would give him a better perspective. He had been spending almost all of his time trying to find a piece of property to claim that met his needs. The Hillview flat may be a place to hang his hat, but it certainly wasn't home. After a quarter century spent living in a huge plantation house in Louisiana and most of his life prior to that either at Hogwarts or in his family's big farm house in Wales, the little flat felt like a cell in Azkaban to him... and his house elf was a blasted dementor.
He'd located
a number of houses he thought might suit Arabella Figg. However, finding a house big enough to handle his entire brood wasn't going to be as easy. Caradoc didn't expect his kids and grandkids to visit often, but when his family made plans to get together, they typically did it in mass. Eleven grown kids, seven spouses, and resulting grandkids required a lot of space. Cai and he had completed repairs on the Tregaron farm, and while the house in Wales could conceivably hold them all, he wanted to make his home here in Stoatshead Hill.
Caradoc considered just claiming a piece of land to build on, but he really enjoyed restoring his plantation house and thought having a project like that here would keep him busy. Besides, he had no specific idea about what he wanted in his home besides space... and lots of things for Cai to do to keep the house elf from driving him up the walls.
So Caradoc jogged on. It wasn't a bad day for a run. It was starting to warm up and there were a few signs of spring cropping up here and there. A number of people were out and about today. Occasionally someone would nod or smile his direction and a few times he stopped to share a few words. Overall, he thought that this would be a friendly place to live. Now all he had to do was find a place to call home.
