Katie had been fiddling around the cinema all day, although not really having anything to do as it had all been finished and ready for quite awhile. But, she had cast enough scourgify's around the place at least that it was gleaming in preparation. In a way she figured she had chosen the wrong business to open - now that it was done, there was little to take care of, and she liked having a lot to do. But despite the busy-work she had been required to do to alleviate her boredom while she waited, the excitement she felt at finally opening wasn't diminished.
She had decided against having physical tickets to give to people, at least for the first evening while she was having the shows as two for one - and it didn't help she really didn't have anyone to take the tickets. Besides, it wasn't that large a place, and in terms of admission it was just her - so she would know who didn't belong.
Shortly before six she did a final sweep of the cinema, making sure everything was ready to go. The concession was stocked, including a few packets of Raisinettes she'd bought at set aside in case Caradoc came, and the modified popcorn machine was filled with everything it needed to get going once Cedric arrived, or more accurately, someone actually came wanting to buy some. The front hallway was lit up - although only by torches - but she'd wanted it adequately illuminated so people could get a good look at Cedric's mural, as well as the two
movie posters she had hung on the opposite wall for the two films she was showing that evening.
Katie had contemplated changing her movie choices a few times, but for opening night, they seemed like a good idea - and hopefully a good way to get people to come back. She knew that for many - yes, she was optimistic enough to believe there would me 'many' - coming that evening, the cinema might be more of a novelty than anything, but she'd like it to have staying power.
Although she knew it was early, she opened the doors at six, although she didn't know if anyone would actually bother to show up more than ten minutes before the show started. But she was there, she was bored, and she was excited to get things started. Cedric came in not long after, taking his place behind the concession counter. She hated to make him work for the evening, but she really couldn't be in two places at once, especially when she had to go start the projector later on. Although accepting payment was far from hard work, especially since she wasn't too fussy about what kind and how much payment people offered as long as they came, she wanted to be around in case people had questions - not everybody in this town could know about movies. They were witches and wizards, the statistical probability was very unlikely.
She'd started off actually in the box office, waiting for people to show up. But felt ridiculous, and not only because there was nobody there yet. Rolling her eyes at herself, she hopped up on the counter of it instead, waiting in hopes that people had actually paid attention to those flyers around town.
