Roger pulled on a tee shirt, glad that it was getting warmer and he was able to forgo the jumpers and coats for now. He found a blue button-up to layer over the tee and shrugged it on whilst shoving his toes into his shoes. He bent to put them on the rest of the way. He'd not meant to push it so close to the time Hermione had said she'd be here, but this morning he'd had to go to the shop early to haul in a Sunday shipment of supplies. If he'd not taken them today, he would have had to wait until next month for them to be shipped again.
He was okay, time-wise, though; he was about ready to go, and Hermione wasn't yet here. He smiled, wondering what she had planned for today. He liked when she surprised him, as much as he liked the look on her face when he surprised her. He thought about what she'd done for him at Easter. The eggs she'd hidden for him among Maire's had been a small thing, but they'd meant a lot, her giving him something he'd not had as a child. It was things like that she would do that touched him, and make him want to be even closer to her.
Next weekend, they would go to Barcelona. He was excited about the trip, even though it was primarily business for her publishing company, and liked that she'd trusted him enough to invite him on an overnight trip at this point in their relationship. The talk they'd had on Wednesday -- about Barcelona, and about other things, had brought some of the thoughts he'd been having to a head.
Based on their talk on Wednesday, becoming intimate with Hermione was more of a 'when' than an 'if', at least at this point -- and in that case, it was strange to be discussing such things when they weren't even giving any sort of name to their relationship. Not that he hadn't done that with other women, of course. But Hermione was different; she always had been.
He'd been wondering over the past little while since this had come up what he'd been waiting for, and the truth was that he didn't like the fact that his confusion and issues with his past were making Hermione think he was only treating their relationship casually. Regardless of how soon their relationship progressed physically, he was serious about this, he wanted to be her boyfriend, and he needed to make that clear to her. His feelings for her meant more than any lingering issues. And really, they were boyfriend and girlfriend, regardless of whether they were calling it so yet. So he just needed to get his arse in gear: It was his move now, and maybe she wasn't even ready yet, but he needed to broach the subject.
He heard the knock on the door and shook out of his thoughts. Crossing the kitchen, he opened the door and grinned when he saw her. "Hey," he said, wasting no time pulling her to him and closing his mouth over hers.
