The bright sun of Sunday morning filtered in through the window of the bedroom opposite the master suite at Lovegood and South. The bed was only a full-sized bed and Fleur’s lithe body occupied exactly one-half of it, the half down the center. This bed was the one she would take with her into her new life, a life without Bill. Even though the mattress was much smaller than the queen she once shared with her husband, she did not mourn its smaller size. She would not be sharing it with anyone else any time soon and when she finally decided to do so, she would make damn sure whomever she held in her arms held her just as tightly in return. That way the smaller dimensions of the bed truly would be a blessing. The next time around she would be certain.
The warmth of the sunlight caressed her like a lover. There was nothing in the whole of existence like a Sunday morning.
But this Sunday morning she could not tarry. She had personal business with which to deal, mainly the leasing of a flat at Hammerside, if the facilities were to her liking.
Two cups of coffee and two slices of toast later, she wore a flowing dress in a bright flowery print. She left her hair falling about her shoulders, relishing the feel of how it fondled the flawless, un-freckled skin of her shoulders.
Hammerside was a simple stroll down Lovegood Lane and a left turn up Epsilon Street. She enjoyed walking over the river bridge on foot, as she could stop and look down into the puddling and gushing waters as they danced on to unknown destinations. When she looked up from the flowing river, there stood Hammerside.
She reached the end of her late morning walk as she pulled open the glass door and entered the lobby. The large receiving area was silent and her footsteps echoed across the tiled floor as she approached the stairway. A few flights later she found herself standing in front of Dean Thomas’ door. She knocked and waited.
