Ron had spent most of Friday wishing he had something like Hermione's old Time-Turner, except that instead of enabling him to live an hour over, it would just make the day race by so he'd be able to leave work sooner. As he didn't have such an object (nor did one exist, as far as he knew), he tried to concentrate on getting his printing assignments done as quickly and efficiently as possible. He'd had a quick cup of coffee with Hermione but hadn't worked up the nerve to talk to her yet about how his place as reserve Keeper for the British Quidditch team might affect the printing business. It was one of those thorny issues he preferred to avoid, and since tomorrow was Lavender's birthday and he was taking her "away" for what he hoped was a very romantic weekend, it was much easier to avoid that topic altogether. I'll talk to her about it next week, he thought, feeling a tiny prickle of guilt because for all he knew, Katie would call two-a-day practices starting next week. Still, he wasn't going to let that ruin Lavender's birthday. He'd gone to Exeter the day before and found her a very special and intimate present. This morning he'd stopped in at the opening of Eleanor's shop and bought several scented soaps that he thought Lavender would like (none of them scented with lavender; he reckoned she got too much of that already). The big present, of course, was a weekend away at a cosy hotel on the seacoast. They'd never gone away together for a weekend, so Ron had thought the weekend of her 25th birthday would be the perfect time to spend a few days alone. He'd not given Lavender all the details, though, because he wanted her to be surprised about where they went and what he'd got for her. All she knew was that they were going away for a romantic weekend, and that was really all she needed to know before they left. She didn't need to know that he'd sold a couple of things from his flat, in Exeter, to help pay for the trip.

At half-past five Ron cleaned up the printing press and left work, Apparating back to River Place so he could clean himself up properly and pack his bag for the weekend. The weather was decent, for a change, not particularly warm but at least it wasn't raining. After packing a couple of changes of clothes and a macintosh (just in case), as well as Lavender's birthday presents, he left his flat shortly before half-past six and Apparated over to Copper Towers. A quick ride up the lift and he was knocking on the door of Lavender's flat.
