Romilda yawned and shivered in the early cold. She always felt the cold so easily, but she wasn't going to let something simple as that defeat her on a day like today. Today was the first day of her new life. Today was the first day without Voldemort. Harry had done it. Hard to believe it was all over, but she had complete faith in Harry, and the thought left a warm feeling inside.

She could see Liam playing outside. It was so good that her son could now grow up without the horrors of war all around. A true home, and a place to grow strong, and perhaps someone in her life who could be a father to him. Hey, even Harry could end up back in town. The possibilities were endless.

Liam had just discovered a garden gnome, and was mercilessly poking and prodding the poor creature, giggling like crazy as it tried to avoid Liam's inquisitive hands. He began chasing it, and she just knew he would be tripping over his own feet in no time, crying his eyes out.

This was a whole new start. She swore it would be. The concept of home was almost foreign to her these days. She could barely remember her parent's faces and her own home, but she was grateful to have bumped into Wayne Hopkins, and now Cedric Diggory, for it finally gave her a chance to get a real life and a new home.

Living from meal to meal, day to day was not exactly what she had planned. Damn stupid war messing with her entire life. She couldn't even get decent work because of her lack of OWLs. Thank Merlin that Rosmerta had work for her, and that Wayne had managed to find a flat for her and Liam. It was something, at least. Definitely a step up from where she had been.

It was nice to see that some people were offering to help, and not judging her on some stupid mistakes she made as a kid. But now she had a chance to prove that she was going to be a responsible adult.

Yes, but you've already lapsed, haven't you?

She tried not to think about the night before. Not that it had been terrible - it had been extremely comforting in many ways. But when Cedric gave her those warm clothes for Liam, and for herself, she had no other way of possibly repaying him for such generosity. The fact that he gave her a warm bed to sleep in just sealed the deal.

It had been a very cold night, and yes, one thing led to another, but it was the only way she could pay him back for such generosity.

No,no more. I'm going to get a respectable job with Rosmerta now, and Liam won't have to ever know what I had to do to put food on the table. I swear. I'll go and apologise to Cedric, explain why it shouldn't have happened.

She shuffled down from the barn, the one bag with their entirely worldly belongings slung over one shoulder. Cedric was standing by the door, smiling as he watched Liam and the gnome.

"Look, I don't know how to thank you enough, Cedric. What you gave us last night - it was... well it was well more than what I would have asked for what we did last night. I guess... well, look, if you want to do that again, I guess that will square our payment.
