RP: The One with the Waggily Tail?

Lavender was in a good mood as she slipped the plates from lunch into the kitchen sink, charming the cloth to clean them. She was feeling a little excited about today and their plan to go to the animal shelter. Getting another pet had been Ron’s idea in the first place, but Lavender had warmed to the idea the more she thought about it.
There was absolutely no guarantee that they would be able to find a dog that was suitable for them, of course, but she was enthusiastic about the whole affair. Lavender had even looked into the animal shelter to see what the place was like; there wasn’t anyone officially working on a Sunday, but that was the best day for her and Ron to go and visit so she’d owled to see when people would be around.
It was nearly the end of January, she realised with a faint surprise. Merlin, time seemed to be going quickly. Before she knew it, Lavender had a feeling that time would slip away to the end of February and then it would be Ron’s birthday at the beginning of March. Hmm. Maybe she’d have to broach the subject at some point and see if there was anything he wanted to do. Last year, Harry and Hermione had organised a party at Xanadu, but Lavender wasn’t sure he’d want to do that again this year.
As she cast a quick Cleaning Charm on the kitchen worktop, Lavender saw Ginny slinking into the kitchen and settling herself by the radiator. Lavender smiled and washed her hands, drying them quickly. She glanced towards the cats’ bowls and frowned, seeing that they were empty. “Ron, have you fed the cats today?” she called. She didn’t want to give them more food if they’d already eaten.
