[Cassidy is looking not just perturbed, but downright worried, when she turns on her feed.]

I thought there was something wrong with this 'offer'. When something seems too easy, or too good to be true....

[She shakes her head, turning the feed to show a wilted pot of daffodils, a little sunlamp shining onto it, highlighting the withered petals ( Read more... )

Yes. Normal flowers. I asked for a pot of daffodils and a sunlamp. The video happened to catch the lamp when it was actually working. It's been flickering off and on for the last few days, too.

I thought anything more than simple flowers would be too extravagant a choice for what was being traded. It seems even this was worth more than the price offered.

It is really strange. And I don't know, Boyo. I intend to find out, if I can.

So I've seen. I'd like to have a few words with that Pawnbroker....

Not to my knowledge. But if he's related to the Brass Embassy, if nothing else, we could appeal there and request an audience or an explanation.

[Protocol. You appeal to the higher authority, politely, and see what can be done.]

Consumerism? It sounds like something I should know, but the word itself isn't one I've heard before. Related to the economy of an area, I'm guessing, and trade of goods and services.

How we, as individual buyers, are constantly encouraged to nurse a need for new purchases as well as the maintenance of formerly acquired items.

[That gets a raised eyebrow.]

Sounds like an aristo thing. Need for purchases comes from an actual need for something, or as a treat if you're careful and have saved for it. And taking care of what you buy lowers that need for maintenance from outside sources.
