Les Miserables is actually quite cool, when you're not forced to read it. I know all about the girlfriend thing; Jennifer Connelly and I just couldn't get it together.
Yeah, I just haven't really had a good time to start it. Starting a book like that requires a decent opening reading session. I imagine having it at poolside next weekend.
Wheel of Time...that brings back memories. I read through the series up to Book 5 or so, when I was in junior high school. When I had a borrowed copy from the library, my French teacher made a smart remark: "What is that, War and Peace?"
I'd love to read through the series in its entirety, but not until it's finished, thank you very much. It may be a while though.
I can understand stopping after book five - it starts to drag for a bit at that point. Also, books 7 - 10 could easily have been re-pieced to be about different characters but each covering the same chronology. Instead, he pretty much divided up the characters and spread them over four books. Book 11 has been a huge payoff, though. It is probably the most exciting book besides 1 and 3.
Oh, and Robert Jordan is very ill. He either is currently or was at the Mayo Clinic for something really bad. If he takes a turn for the worse, we may not get the final book. (Sad!)
sorry to hear about you and kirsten. It is indeed sad. Vin and I are going through a rather rocky patch as well. But i firmly believe nothing says "meant to be together" like a restraining order.
Apparantly I didn't have what it takes to be a stand-in for Tobey or Topher in Spider-Man 3. They also apparantly didn't want stand-ins for kissing scenes. (ARGH!)
