What would be worse - losing lots of sleep due to stress or risk getting hooked on a sleep-enducing drug?

More info is needed. How much sleep is lost? Is brain function still happening? What are the side effects of the drug? Does it promote actual restful sleep or just put you out for a while and then you wake up with a sleep hangover?

I'm not good with either/or questions:)

Last night I woke up once an hour for a good five minutes, although at 4am I woke up for at least 20 minutes but then slept straight to 8am. Brain functionality is definitely still happening - I don't remember dreaming often at all, but lately I've definitely had dreams.

I have no drug in mind yet. I need to go to the Health Food store (yes, I know where one is and have been in it before) and see what they have.

I guess I should just do more research.

Ok, i understand that your male and all but I fully promote the sleep enhancement of lavender scent. Even just to spray on pillow cases or a candle will help tons. Or if you have a humidifier at home, nine bucks at walmart, put some lavender drops in at night. It helps me a lot. Plus the humidifier is great for cold and flu season or nosebleeds like I get during the dry winter months.Good luck! Let me know what you find.

There's a fun irony here - I bought a humidifier the last time I was sick, but the hum kept me awake. :D
