I stumbled uponyay-buttons LJ while lurking around the other day and I saw her (I presume here) Book reviews and countdown to reading 50 books for the year. I thought this sounded like a good idea because I think I need to read more books and keep a bit of a track of what I'm reading.

Hello.

I came across your lj via the bookshare comm - I hope you don't mind.

Every year I post a list of books on my lj and rate them, but I've not yet gotten around to writing actual reviews. Maybe this can be next years project!

Anyway, I do have a reason for posting. What kind of genres are your favourites? Would you read Young Adult literature, for example? Urban Fantasy? Chick Lit? Humour? Historical fiction? If you answered yes to any of these, I have a few suggestions you might enjoy:

* The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman
* Garden Spells - Sarah Addison Allen
* Tithe - Holly Black
* Cross Stitch - Diana Gabaldon
* Butterfly - Sonya Hartnett
* Wasteland - Francesca Lia Block
* Mr Darcy's Diary - Maya Slater

All really good reads - the last is Pride and Prejudice from Mr Darcy's point of view. It's the best version (there are many, many books out there told from Darcy's point of view) I've read thus far. There were tonnes more I was gonna list, but I think that's enough really. Heh.

I hope that's helpful!

Thanks for these - exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. I like most genres, though I tend to be lukewarm on most of what I've seen labelled as chick lit and historical fiction is a bit of a fav since I like finding the parallels and diversions.
