I was bored last night.
wehmuth mentioned on
yesterday's HP spoiler post that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sounded like a goth band in the style of Libitina, which got me writing.
This is in the comments to that post, but my adoring public (hi
chrome_cherry!) demanded that I repost it where it could be truly appreciated.
Magic People
She came from Greece, she had a thirst for magic
Studied t'craft at the school of Hogwarts
That's where I
Caught her eye
She told me that her dad was muggle
I said in that case I'll have a rabbit in a hat
She said fine
And then in thirty seconds time, she said
I want to live like magic people
I want to do whatever magic people do
I'll cast spells like magic people
I'll cast spells like magic people
Like magic people -- like you
Well what else could I do?
I said I'll see what I can do
I met her in Diagon Alley
I don't know why, but I had to start it somewhere
So it started there
I said pretend you're David Blaine
She just laughed and said 'you're insane'
I said yeah?
I can't see anyone else laughing round here
Are you sure you want to live like magic people
You want to see whatever magic people see
You want to be like magic people
You want to be like magic people
Like me
But she didn't understand
She just smiled and held my hand
Turn a broom into a mop
Conjure money, not a job
Smite some daemons, just a few
Pretend you were born for magic school
But still you'll never get it right
For when you're laid in bed at night
Practicing your priestess call
You know your dad's just a muggle
You'll never live like magic people
You'll never do what magic people do
You'll never fly like magic people
You'll never watch the earth slide out of view
As you soar, up to the moon
Sing along with the magic people
Sing along and it might just get you through
Cast along with the magic people
Cast along even though they're laughing at you
And the stupid things that you do
Because you think that spells are cool
[Disclaimer]: This was a bit of fun for me. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, so this is probably in no way accurate. It just made me giggle. And I know the meter's not perfect. You have to Jarvis it up in your head and then it's fine.
