One of my most memorable Philly experiences was walking around City Hall at about 4am on New Year's Day. The bleachers were set up already, the streets were blocked off, but no one had come out for the parade yet. Being able to stand in front of the Clothespin and not see anyone, in any direction... whew. Very post-apocalyptic. Not quite as spooky as being able to cross Market St against the lights at noon on 9/11/01 because there were so few cars, but close.
