hello out there!
So, what's been happening all?
Life has been fucking chaotic. Sorry but I must use my usual vocab right now. I'm tired of censoring myself for work all day.
The company location move is next weekend and I think we have everything in place. I am burned out and ready for a vacation. If I'm feeling this way, I can't imagine how my boss feels. He's pretty much the director for the whole thing. Plus? He's getting married in five weeks. Fun stuff.
Two of my favorite coworkers are leaving. J is going on to do electrical construction work - but he's been talking about doing that for a year, so I'm not surprised. Just sad at how his decision came about. He wanted more time at our company, especially since he just had ankle surgery and his wife is expecting a baby in October, but they want to outsource desktop IT at work and - yup - that's what he does. I'm going to miss him. : ( He's worked in the racing pits for NASCAR and as an EMT and recently built his own chopper - a very interesting guy who's always interested in life.
H is also leaving. She's been there pretty much since the inception of the company and is a jack-of-all-trades. She understands this place better than almost anyone else here. Because she did so many different things - HR, Sales, Admin - a lot of it is getting piled on the rest of us admin slaves. Suddenly I'm doing expense reports for the CEO and ordering business cards. Yay me. Cuz, you know, I have so much time on my hands.
They're lucky to be leaving. The only reason I'm still around is that I made a vow to see the company through the move, and I want to move out of my apartment even more than I want to move on to a new job. I'm sick of this place. It's relatively quiet now. But summer is coming, I don't want to open the windows because of the fucking huge spiders around here, and the people below and next to us are students, not working stiffs, which means late-night parties and all the fun stuff that is really annoying when you have to get up at 6:30am. I hate the corporate world. Next thing you know I'll be wearing suits and not dyeing my hair purple. Perish the thought.
I'm off to write something fun and do some HTML just to keep my hand in and make something pretty with Photoshop. Jay is going out with our friend K so I have the apartment to myself. Thank the gods for small favors.
