Sometimes I wonder if, in some sort of afterlife, we have to live all the lives that we didn't live. You know, that time you decided to have the chocolate ice cream cone instead of the vanilla because it wasn't "life-altering?" yeah, i don't think i actually think that the afterlife is really like this (i don't know what i really think about it). sometimes i just use it as a check on myself. either a "you really should be nice to people because their lives are real too," or a "someday i'll get to know what that would have been like" consolation.

That's really interesting. Sometimes when I was little I thought of everything that was happening as if I was going to get another chance at it--even obviously one-time things like losing my baby teeth. I'm not sure if I thought I had done things wrong and wanted another shot, or if I just didn't want to think in linear time.
