I often write in this thing when I feel depressed or anxious. Please feel free to skip this post if you have had your fill of self-indulgent whining. I've been in relatively good health this year, but just got a cold a few days ago. So far it's been pretty mild and I hope I'm on the getting better side of it all. I would love to say something of comfort, but can't think of anything: so I will acknowledge the reality of your fear and your right to feel it.

Thinking of you and hoping that posting helped at least a bit!

My sympathies about the panic attacks. There was a time in my life when I had repeated experiences that might be called panic attacks (not sure-maybe just emotional freakouts?) in one specific context. That was SO not fun.

I hope you feel more comfortable in both mind and body in the near future.

Also, did my December zine reach you OK? If so, no need to reply-just let me know if you need me to resend it.

Take care!

I'm glad you're able to mention it. It sounds like the thing your medical folks and people who care for/about you should know.

If I may indulge in geek answer syndrome: I wonder if the cough does something - and that "something" triggers the fear/panic. If so, knowing that mechanism might help dealing with it.

It might not - I've had a deep cough that had me gasping and after one especially bad coughing fit, I was on the edge of panic - a perfectly reasonable reaction when oxygen is seeming unavailable!
