I understand exactly where you're coming from and I feel the same in some respects. Sometimes I am happier living in place than I am in another. What I have come to realize is you have to become happy and comfortable with exactly who you are. Even if people dont quite accept you - be yourself! I know its hard to deal with the way most people act but it's part of life.
I get really frustrated with the hatred, ignorance and cruelty of the world we live in. It makes me sad. All I can really do is try to make the world a better place.
*Hugs* I know. You're not alone. Keep this experience forever, try to begin filling your life with these experiences. Your life and lives of others will begin to change for the better- more peaceful and loving. :)
I completely understand how you're feeling right now. I'm sort of going through the same thing right now, having come home to a tiny, tiny town in rural Tennessee from New York City, which was truly a breath of fresh air for me. Where I live, everyone is the same; most of them are xenophobic, homophobic, and full of hatred. In New York I saw people of all shapes and colors, and it was just so beautiful. I was treated more kindly by the people I met on the subway and in stores there than I've been treated by people I've known for years here. It was just this wonderful escape, and I'm sad it had to end.
So yes, I know what you're saying. Just keep faith that one day you'll be able to return to the place you loved, permanently, as I do whenever I go into my closet and see my NYU sweatshirt.
