HDTV

So, I am getting a rather large tax rebate this year and am looking to spend it on a HDTV.
I am currently leaning towards this: Panasonic Plasma 42" TV

Anyone out there got comments or suggestions, please let me know.

I'd wait until you have a home to put it after graduation. Fal's place really isn't big enough.

1) My apartment in Rochester is big
2) Its a plasma flat panel... even if I was at Kittie's and Fal's I could just wall mount the sucker
and 3) If I do go back to their place while looking for a new apartment with kitty I will have to have storage as my Queen sized bed is certainly not going to fit there!

Most modern plasmas have improved there lifespans. LCDs still beat them, but plasmas are now about equal in lifespans to CRTs. They will fade to half brightness in about 10 years of use.

I am a consumer with a high turnover of technology.
While I might still be using this tv in 10 years, it will defiantly be a secondary or tertiary screen by then.

The main disadvantages of plasmas over LCDs (at this size) to me are that they tend to have a lower native resolution and don't work as well with pc inputs, but the higher contrast ratio and viewing angle usually make them look more appealing to me, even given those limitations.

Might I suggest VISIO as a potential brand?

Ive seen them up against all but the most expensive Sony plasma/LCD TVs and they hold their own nicely.

Just a suggestion :)

Tony and I will probably be getting a 42" plasma in the near future.
