When it comes to friends, age is just a number to me. The most primary thing is personality, of course. Obviously there are considerations to be made for some situations, but in the general world my personal rule stands. Not everybody understands it but I pay no heed.
And especially with pot, it brings so many different kinds of people together. And even if you consider the age differences in a way, you can sometimes learn a lot from older peoples' life experiences... and sometimes they benefit from a more youthful perspective as well. Plus it's fun to trade general wacky stoner stories. I love those.
PS: When I was a kid I only really had one friend my own age, so I ended up either playing by myself a lot... or interacting with my father's friends when they were over. And my friends throughout grade school were usually older than I was. In fact most of my friends still are, but then again a large majority of the population is older than I am too. :P As I get older myself, I do pick up some friends who are younger. Again it always depends on the person.
I don't think it's weird at all, but I'm also used to being around much older people most of the time just from the various jobs I've held. In fact, I think older people have better stories to tell! Why wouldn't you want to smoke with them? Ultimately though it's about connecting with people on certain levels (other than the superficial). If the energy is right, I don't see what difference age makes.
I *love* smoking with older people. In fact, my mom and her friends are the people I want to smoke with the most. They are SO much fun when they're sober, I can't even imagine what we would talk about when they're high. But alas, they've grown out of that stage. Smoking with older people is way better than smoking with people my own age. People always say age is just a number, but with age comes experience.
yeah you can steal it, it's pretty damn sweet.... I really can't take full credit for it cause I dunno who created the picture before I made it into an icon so credit whoever you want ;)
PS I'm kinda freaked out by getting this in my mail box cause I haven't even read the entry your comment was attached to LOL... so I'm assuming you're talking to me and not the person who made this post. AHHHH too sober to function!
I also prefer to smoke with older people. It seems to me that along with having better stories, older folks also have better stoner etiquette. I find that a lot of times with younger people it's all about getting ripped as fast as you can, but in my experience older folks tend to kick back and enjoy their mj. I *hate* speed smoking (e.g. where you practically just exhaled and the pipe's already back to you again). :D
The only thing that would weird me out is if you got a 'weird vibe' from them. That's the only requirement for me in a friend. I get a 'weird vibe' I take ten million steps back and put a continent between myself and the weirdo. Usually I only get the vibe from the occasional homeless person so I'm good with all ages, races, living situations, etc.!
