Did you see the bake sale? I hired my men for their ability to be a watchman, not their ability to bake, and let's just say that it showed.

Ah, reckon that makes sense. No reason a man couldn't be both a cook and a guard, but that might be an exception more than the rule.

Yeah. One of the lads decided that he'd have a sale that was composed mostly of the lads trying to bake cookies and sell them for funds for a Watch house. People bought 'em mostly out of the good of their heart instead of the good of their digestive system.

Aw, the food from the bake sale wasn't that bad. I'm glad it's being built, Mr. Vimes!

Some of it wasn't, true. But some of it was. Somehow we managed to scrounge up enough money to put a good chunk towards the Watch House, though.

Good to hear it, Paladin. I'm sure they'll be happy to have you there. I'll be there too, though what I know about construction I could probably fit in a thimble.

Oh, probably. I can just about handle a hammer and I can lug around things, so that'll do some good.
