[Dash half woke from the dream, feling a little disturbed, out of sorts before sinking back into sleep.]

[Later, much later, he'd look back on the dream and think about it. Which was right? The two men in the dream had valid points. Both of them were correct, but he didn't know, any more, if it was better, really better, to see the bad guy to justice.]

[Or kill him before her could do harm again.]

[Morals seemed to blur and grow fuzzy, when weighed against each other. What was the life of a murderer worth? What was the life an innocent worth? How could you measure the value of humans against each other?]

Bell had a feeling it wasn't him in his dream and Bell rolled over in his sleep, feeling a sense of dread. A memory, perhaps. That memory-share event like when he dreamed Seven's dream. Or maybe this was something else. Maybe just a weird dream and his dreamself decided to not be himself tonight. He wasn't sure. Dreamlogic rarely made complete sense, and since he wasn't fully awake now as it was, he wasn't going to spend too much time thinking on it ( ... )

[Well. That was interesting.

She knew that man, had met him. Captain Vimes of the Watch. Was this her subconscious responding to Dash's comment of yesterday? An adversary, an archnemesis, must be chosen with care. Certainly the details were filled in by her mind, but it was still a fascinating possible picture of the man.

While Mona still didn't know what she stood for, what she had done in the past, or even her own name, she had learned a few things about her general attitude. The law was made to be challenged, to be pushed. This man was the representation of the law here.

Mona rolled over, preparing to go back to sleep, smiling faintly. She may well have decided who her opponent was to be here.]

[Usually, Ben's dreams are vague, sensory, not very clear or at least, not clearly remembered. So this one stands out. He wakes afterwards, but doesn't open his eyes.]

[A dream about the head of the Watch and morality in a life where things aren't fair. He would appeal to a higher power than that of... 'nobs' and wealthy folk, and in this drowsing state Ben isn't sure what that higher power is.]

[But even with that, there is no magic wand to make it all better... and somehow, that seems right. The Jedi focuses on sleep until it takes him again.]

[When he opens his eyes for the second time this night, Cloud remains still for a long time. Unmoving, trying not to think. Just... being.

It doesn't last long, though it's nice while it does. The child... the child who is old beyond his years, old like a child shouldn't be. A child, crying out to an adult, Stoneface, for justice. A child, whose mother had been killed (and that almost--not quite but almost--rings a bell, but he doesn't really notice, can't follow the thin line of almost knowing...) It's painfully almost-familiar, except it's not.

'Life's not simple.'

Truer words were never spoken.

And despite feeling sure that he won't be able to go back to sleep after seeing that, he finds his eyes closing again, and his consciousness slipping back into darkness, haunted by elements from this dream.]
