You're welcome. Let me or any of my men know if you have any questions. Most people usually get a personal debriefing about this place, but you and the others aren't so lucky.
Assuming you're new here, nothing. We're the ones who are here to help you. Just try to get to know this place and start thinking about how you want to fit in, that's my advice.
Go for it. If you're really keen, you can go out and get a job if you want. Usually newborns only get a certain amount of time that they can spend in Temporary Housing until they get chucked out, but I think that this lot will be something of an exception until we can get you all sorted out.
Thank you, Vimes. Or is it Commander Vimes? Captain? Sorry, I don't think I know what the correct title for the head of a Watch is. Or if I do, I forgot it, you know?
But that clears up a few things. I appreciate it, and I hope we newcomers won't cause you too many extra headaches! If there's something I can do to make your job easier, say the word.
Any one of them is fine by me. I don't insist anyone call me by a title except my men.
[WELL, you're certainly polite! Good to see.] Thanks for the offer, but the only thing you can do is try and get yourself used to this place and pass on what I wrote up there to anyone who looks confused. Good luck getting yourself situated.
I'm hoping there won't be any to investigate. If you do want to try helping out, though, you can always go around the city and make sure no one's just wandering lost or helping those in Temporary Housing out. There will be lots of lists involved.
[SCIENTIFICALLY SO. Also, whenever Rosalind mentions science, he's always baffled. WHAT IS A SCIENTIFIC LIST. He bets it has numbers all over it. He hates numbers.]
Well, you'll be counting people. Those are numbers.

Much more informative than anything I've seen so far. Thank you, sir.

So what should we be doing to help?

I don't need any help, but I think a lot of people still do.
[A scuff and a shuffle while he looks at the map and some other entries]
There isn't anything else to do here in Temporary Housing anyway. Could I fit in and help them cook?

I guess I could do that, even if I'm not a greeter.
Scientific lists?
