The West Wing

Gina and I have been watching The West Wing on DVD and we really like it so far.  We got the entire series in a boxed set and started from the beginning.  We're in the mddle of season 4 now.  I was wondering if anyone else out there was/is a fan and what were your reactions to the show.

I watched it early on and I loved seeing the 'human side' of the political structure as well as actually seeing some of the machinations of political factions as played out - it made some of the reasons and compromises clearer in the light of the current RL mess

it didn't excuse them or make them right - but it was easier to see how people in 'power' can be pushed from so many sides that its nearly impossible to move at all

From what I have been told that there were a significant number of 'consultants' who worked on the show to bring it closer to reality.
i wonder how a candidate like bartlett would do today?
