[A new business opened recently near the hospital. After a lot of work (and a lot of very generous donations), the Refugee's Haven Medical Clinic is open for business

[There's a half bored, half annoyed looking teenager drumming his fingers obnoxiously on one of the tables in the waiting room. You might have to wave a hand in front of his face to get his attention, judging by the big set of headphones he's wearing and the way he's kind of staring off into spa- the distance.]

[Sigh.]

Yeah, sure. I promise I don't have any parasites, though. I just got a school physical a few months ago, and they definitely would have noticed.

Then this will be quick. Have a seat on the table.

[He's going to run through a few quick tests: temperature, blood pressure, etc.]

What was all that about you biting someone?

[He hops up on the table without complaint, but groans at the question.]

He had his hand over my face! Those guys have big hands. Big, green hands. I couldn't breathe!

[John is getting some equipment out of a drawer, but he stops at this.]

You bit a Vogon? Not that I blame you, but it might be a good thing to check for disease after all. For your sake, I mean, not theirs.

Ugh. I think if I brush my teeth a couple times I'll be fine.

[Yosuke glances over the equipment in a kind of disinterested way. Hey, you said you were a doctor. He figures that means you know what you're doing with that stuff. And there aren't any needles full of sedatives in sight, so everything is hunky dory.]

[John comes back with a scanner.] This is going to take some of your blood for testing. It only needs a very small sample though, so it's just a pinprick. Anywhere on your arm would be fine. I'll let you choose the spot.

[Yosuke shrugs out of his school jacket and holds out his arm.]

It doesn't matter. But at the crook of my elbow you can see the vein a little if that helps.

It doesn't even go that deep. Kind of amazing, really.

[He touches the scanner to Yosuke's arm, and there's a quick jab with a needle, no more than a scratch. John slides the scanner into a reader to let it work.]

Wish we'd had things this sophisticated back on Earth. It'll just be a minute. Assuming the scanner doesn't find anything, I'll sign your form and you're on your way.

[He flinches at the jab, like a real badass. But then he just gives the machine a curious look. He's definitely never seen one of those before.]

Great. A hot shower and something to eat definitely wouldn't suck!

[After a minute the machine beeps once. John looks at the screen and smiles.]

Everything was negative. Looks like I can give you a clean bill of health.

[He pulls out a pen and signs the form, then hands it over.]

Here you go. I'd suggest not biting any Vogons from now on.

[Yosuke makes a face as he snatches the form back, but he's too excited about getting it cleared to mind.]
