[Chiyo's teaching position this month is pretty different from her post as an English teacher last month! but that's okay-she enjoys cooking just as much, and she's no stranger to it, either. she's been making her own food for the past three or four years, so she's pretty well-versed for someone her age. standing on a crate so that she can properly see her students, she claps to get their attention and begin the lesson.]
All right, class! Today we're going to make cakes! I'm sure some of you have made some already, and that's good! That way, you can help your other classmates who haven't done it before.
All of the ingredients you need to make a basic cake are at your tables, but if you want to make a different kind, just let me know and I'll get you what you need for it! Now, for those of you who haven't made cakes before, it's really simple. First...
[Chiyo then proceeds to give directions on how to mix things together, what temperature to set the oven at, putting on the frosting, and all that other good stuff. every now and then-like when she's mixing things in a bowl-she starts singing to herself. after she puts her cake in the oven, she turns back to the class, smiling.]
