Chiyo may be in complete awe at what's happening before her eyes, but dammit, learning comes first! her notes are very neat and detailed, taking in everything Patchouli's saying, as well as writing down a couple of things based on her own observations. and by a couple I mean pretty much everything that's going on in the match above.]

[Meanwhile, Patchy continues the lecture, Marisa having used her first spell card.]

Marisa is first to use a spell card, as you may be able to tell by her calling out the name. This card is a slave-type spell, where she controls a number of "slaves" that shoot for her. They are not living slaves, mind you, just arcane manifestations. This particular spell is extremely restrictive, the spiral pattern of the card prevents her opponent from getting close, while at the same time preventing too much distance, effectively trapping them in the extremely dangerous middle ground.

[scribble scribble scribble goes Chiyo's pencil. her eyes are fixated on the battle taking place above her, hand flying over the paper as she takes notes.]

But Flandre-san will be able to escape, right?

Yes, she will be. Spell cards may not be made impossible by rule.

...In this case, Flandre must either knock Marisa out of the spell card trance to end the card, or else keep dodging from within that area until the card times out on its own, which depends on how long Marisa can hold it. Judging by her ability, I would say a little over a minute, give or take.

[Chiyo just continues to write down everything she hears and sees. she may not have had any experience whatsoever with any sort of magic before taking Patchouli's class, but she'll be damned if she doesn't know at least the basics by now.]
