THE SMALL MAN-MADE LAKE gayformaster August 11 2011, 05:13:14 UTC
Well, whaddya know?! It's a lake! Not huge, but big enough that you can't call it a pond! There seems to be some frogs and lightning bugs hanging around this area, and what's that? Paddle boats! Yes, there are paddle boats here, for you to go out on the lake in! They only fit two people (three if you're skinny little kids) and they're quite wobbly, so try not to fall in! There's also a rowboat or two, if you want something a little more charming! The lake is clean, but it's very easy to get tangled in plants, so watch out!

... And around the lake, should you choose to stay on the shore around it:

[And look who's approaching. Wesker escorts his date for the night to the lake, and his gaze immediately scans the area; he notes that a rowboat might work well for privacy, if she truly did wish to get to know him better. It was what she initially proposed, after all.]

A charming sight.

That I can agree with.

So shall we proceed?

[lifting her skirt up slightly so it doesn't trail on the ground and trying not to crush any of the yellow and red flowers underfoot with her heels as they near the boats]

[Wesker is not so careful when it comes to trodding on the flowers. If one is underfoot, it is crushed, but it is nothing bad enough to spread the pollen around.

It doesn't take long before he mans the boat and the oars, and they're off on the lake.

He rows purposefully but slowly. This is not much of a physical exertion on his part, and his breathing is normal.

The languid movement of water makes for ambient noise as he speaks.]

If I remember correctly, I believe you wished to get to know me better.

[absentmindedly watching her reflection in the water even as it's warped by the waves created by the paddle]

Speak freely.

[old habits die hard and she speaks with clipped military formality; didn't catch herself this time; going to a party after work only to work some more? not exactly a good idea]

[He studies her as she watches her own reflection in the water, even as he creates the ripples that disrupt it.

He isn't derailed by her tone. His actually has a hint of amusement in his.]

I believe that's your job. Are you not the one with the questions?

[looking up from her reverie]

This isn't an interrogation though. Hm...let's start with something basic. I know it's rude to ask most people this but you don't strike me as easily offended. Pardon the randomness but that is the ship's specialty so...

How old are you, Mr. Wesker?

[The corners of his lips quirk upwards a bit when he hears that one.]

I'll answer honestly, but humor me first. If you were to hazard a guess, how old would you say I am?

[not missing a beat]

A quarter of a century.

[It was good to know the virus was not slacking in this department, at least.]

If you would had said half a century, you would have been closer. I'm forty-eight.

[raising an eyebrow]

It's usually women who lie about their age and usually they feign being younger.

Then again, I'll suspend disbelief. Why would that be?

Yes, it usually is. I fall under neither category.

The reason is simple; I'm a scientist, I'm sure you've gathered that much. I've applied some of my research to myself.

You're a man that takes risks then. That can work in one's favor but also brings about one's downfall.

[He's died once to achieve what he is now; he's more than aware of this.]

What progress is there to be made, if risks aren't taken?

I didn't say I disagreed with the sentiment. In fact, I encourage it.

[He stops rowing for a bit, letting the boat simply float where it is on the lake.]

And are you the type that takes risks, as well?
